PGA of Manitoba Youth Golf Program
The PGA of Manitoba is proud to be involved in helping to grow the game of golf – with a great group of students from Elmwood High School.
This is the sixth year for the program at Rossmere Country Club.
This year’s participants receive:
- Green fees for the 2016 season
- Golf instruction from top instructors in Manitoba
This program begun in 2011 with a group of four participants, two boys and two girls, all 14 years old. We are pleased to say that these four participants, along with four others from Elmwood High School took part in the PGA of Manitoba Youth Program this year. 2014 was their final and graduating year. Summer of 2015 saw a new group of golfers! We are excited to continue on through 2016.
Craig Yahiro, PGA of Canada Member, is the Head Instructor for the program and has mentored these teens in the game each season.
The goal of the program is to provide :
- Instruction – both group and private at a minumum once per week for the 8-week program.
- Playing Golf minumum once per week for the 8-week program
- Having the teens in the program to understand and enjoy the game of golf!
Nike Golf Canada, Callaway, Levelwear, Arnott Agencies and Acushnet Canada have generously donated the equipment and clothing necessary for the Program. Rossmere Country Club has graciously donated memberships each season and is our host site for the program.
Long Term Goal of the Youth Golf Program :
To create an ongoing relationship between the PGA of Manitoba and Winnipeg youth. We hope that through its success, we can grow this program, introducing many teens to the great game of golf and most importantly, have a positive impact in their lives.
