North Tops the Field at Titleist & FootJoy Spring Classic

Dean North of the Carman Golf & Curling Club fired a 2 under par 70 to take home top honours at the Titleist and FootJoy Spring Classic yesterday.  The event was played under perfect conditions at Quarry Oaks Golf Course with more sunshine and less wind than we have seen most days so far this season!

Geoff Kehler and Devon Schade, both of Larters at St. Andrews were only 1 stroke back after 1 under rounds of 71.  

Finishing tied for fourth with even par rounds of 72 were Ryan McMillan (Elmhurst), Glen Mills (Assiniboine) and Jonathan Wiegner (Glendale).  Also taking home a portion of the player’s purse were Walt Keating (Whitewater), Cory Kartusch (St. Charles) and Derrik Goodwin (Glendale).

We are grateful for the continued support of Rob McMillan of Acushnet, as Titleist & FootJoy were once again title sponsors of this event.  Thier partnership with the PGA of Manitoba zone extends across several events and platforms and greatly assists the zone in providing valuable member events and services.

We would also like to extend our thanks to Quarry Oaks Head Professional Darren Hayden and his team for hosting this event and taking care of all details leading up to and during the tournament.  As well, our thanks go out to Gord Hudson for once again assisting and guiding the field throughout the day as he was kept busy as our on course referee.

The next PGA of Manitoba event will be the Sunice & Bobby Jones Pro Lady Tournament.  It will be held on July 3 at the Elmhurst Golf & Country Club.
